Standard 1 – Educators value the success of all students. Educators care for students and act in their best interests
A3: While I prefer face-to-face teaching for myself as a student, I believe that if a student in my class would benefit from being able to access the class remotely (for whatever reason) I would fully support it. #unbced

In order to meet the needs of all of my students and have them be successful, I found it very beneficial to meet with students and their families to discuss students progress and ways to support student continued learning. I found that a combination of emails, phone calls and in person conversations with students and their families kept the lines of communication open and helped with student absences and missed work.
While in this Practicum, I took part in school-based team meeting as there were a number of students in my classes with designations that were being supported by various programs in the school community. It was a wonderful opportunity to see how the different school programs and staff members work together to wrap around students to offer them the best supports possible.
I had a number of Indigenous students in my classes, so I made sure to check-in with the Eagles Centre to discuss concerns and or ideas for the best way for me to support the Indigenous learners in my classes.
Many of the students were applying for and organizing paperwork for post-secondary programs in September while in my classes, I was asked to help with program entrance letters because of the rapport that the students and I shared. I love that the students felt comfortable and open enough to ask for help and I was thrilled to give it; meeting with students in the library at home and also providing feedback over email.
